Client Spotlight: Meghan Lynd

Meghan inspires me so much. I shared her transformation on my Instagram a few weeks ago and immediately thought, she has to be the next client spotlight. This one post on Instagram isn’t enough. Meghan’s story is way too relatable and familiar to so many women to not share. Battling hypothyroidism, a history of yo-yo dieting, pregnancy, doctors who recommended she cut her calories drastically to see results…Any of that sound familiar? Let’s learn more from Meghan about how macros has changed her life and finally given her hope.

How did you find SFM?
Meghan: I have been following SFM for almost 6 years! When I started doing CrossFit after I had my second I started following your blog to get workouts I could do at home and paleo recipes. 

You have been so consistent and steady throughout this process.  What keeps you going? 
Meghan: Honestly the wonderful coaches are so encouraging and the SFM community is very supportive. There are so many inspirational women and stories.

Tell us about your journey so far.
Meghan: The biggest reward for me is just gaining my confidence back. I went for years with an undiagnosed thyroid issue that caused me to gain a lot of weight and get stuck in a horrible cycle. Once we started getting it regulated I tried every program and diet out there. I even had a doctor that put me on a magic pill and told me to eat 800 calories a day. Nothing happened. (Big Shocker!) I tried 21 day fix, Keto, Paleo, I cut gluten, I did Whole 30, juice cleanses…You name it, I tried it. Nothing worked.

Then I found out I was pregnant with my third which, was a huge surprise. I will be very transparent and tell you that I was devastated at first. Knowing that I would just be adding weight to the extra weight I was already struggling to loose was something I had a really hard time dealing with. Obviously now I can’t imagine life without my precious baby and she has been such a blessing. I had seen SFM posting about Macros and the transformations were incredible. I decided that as soon as my hormones balanced out after I had my baby, I was going to try it. I had nothing to lose.

I was so skeptical going in, especially when I found out how much I was supposed to eat! I honestly thought there was no way this would work, but I decided to trust coach Kristi and the process. I am so very glad I did, because this is the only thing that has given me results. 

Have the habits you’ve picked up since counting macros rubbed off on your family?  What do they think about it?
Meghan: Yes! I actually love that my 12 year old daughter sees me eating real food and balanced meals. Sitting down for dinner and seeing plates full of all the food groups and hearing my kids say they need protein is actually comforting to my momma heart. 

What are the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome when it comes to sticking to the plan?
Meghan: The scale not moving. It actually hasn’t moved much at all. I’ve had to change my whole mindset that it’s not about a number on the scale. It’s about feeling stronger and watching inches melt away as muscles grow. The scale is no longer my motivator. 

What keeps you signing up for coaching over and over again?
Meghan: Plain and simple, I’m seeing results! I also absolutely love the group of women in the Stay Fit Mom community and the coaches are so supportive.

What do you like to do for exercise?
Right now I mostly do CrossFit 2-3 times a week. I’m also chasing a baby around the house and up and down the stairs a lot. LOL.

Any advice for anyone considering trying to count their macros? 

Meghan: If you’re even thinking about it, try it. It never hurts to try. But I can promise you, once you realize you can eat all the carbs and not starve yourself, and still get amazing results, you will be obsessed. This is hands down the best program I have ever done. I’m getting results, even after I’ve had doctors tell me I’ll never get the results I want. And not only am I seeing results, but I feel healthy because I’m actually fueling my body and not starving it.

    Great interview and result pictures. I haven’t heard of macro counting for weight regulation before. That sounds like an effective option!
