We all know how it feels when those January days hit and winter is in full-swing. It is so easy to just want to hibernate under the covers and not peek back out again until we can see the crocuses poking through the snow! That’s not going to do us any favors when Spring comes though- we aren’t bears!!! Our bodies feel their best when we keep them in motion and eat in a way that supports our habits!
Small-Space Workouts: Fitness in Any Weather
We may have to get creative with our workouts depending on where we live or what season of life we’re going through, but if you have floor space the size of your body, you can make a workout happen! Burpees, planks, pushups, sit ups, yoga…you can do all of that in a very small space! Click HERE for Indoor Workouts for any weather.
Budget-Friendly Fitness Equipment for Your Home
This is also a great time to check out resale pages for used fitness equipment like walking pads, treadmills or spin bikes! I try to never pay full price for any of those items because so many people use them for limited seasons and then are ready to re-home them.
Gear Up for the Cold: The Right Clothing Makes All the Difference
Get some better clothing for winter weather if you don’t have it! If not having a good hat or gloves/jacket is stopping you from getting fresh air on cold days, it’s time to make the investment! Even just ten minutes of outside time a day and a brisk walk will do your body so much good!
How to Outsmart Winter Munchies
If you’re struggling to keep the munchies at bay, first ask yourself if you’re hungry or just bored. It’s easy to wander through the kitchen and feel like you should eat, just because you’re in the place where the cooking happens. If you wouldn’t eat a plate of chicken and broccoli, chances are you’re just bored- get outta the kitchen and change your surroundings! Instead, think about a hobby you could re-discover or find a new one. Pick up that book you’ve been saying you’ll read, or pull out a board game or puzzle. Kids always love to do a new craft or even something simple like coloring or play doh. Bonus: you’ll be bonding at the same time!!!

Macro-Friendly Comfort Foods to Warm You Up
Focus on macro-friendly comfort foods! We have tons of wonderful soup recipes that are perfect for cold winter days, and they make for great lunches the next day too. Muffins are at the top of my “comfort foods” list- don’t miss Krista’s yummy protein muffin recipes! Hot tea is another fabulous option…it makes a winter night so cozy and helps your body relax and unwind from the day (and you’re getting in a little extra water towards your water goals!). Check out some of our favorite comfort food recipes below.

In the end, Spring is going to be here fast and we’ll be thinking about that summer vacation before we know it! Keeping our bodies well-fueled and in-motion over the winter sets us up for making all those warm weather memories, while feeling our best and healthiest too!
