From 210 to 175: A Dad BOD Transformation Story

When Jenni first joined Stay Fit Mom, her husband, Jon, never expected he’d eventually begin his own transformation journey too. But after the scale crept over 200 pounds and life became busier with work, parenting, and less time for endurance training, he realized something needed to change. What started as a desire to lose weight quickly became something much bigger — a sustainable lifestyle centered around accountability, consistency, family, and learning how to fuel his body well.

Today, Jon’s down over 34 pounds through DAD BOD coaching, macro counting, meal prep, and support from both Coach Chelsea and his wife along the way. Even more inspiring? Their journey has transformed the culture of health inside their home, creating more active family time, healthier habits, and a son who now asks when the family’s next 5K will be.

Tell us a little bit about your story, Jon. Work? Family?

Jon: I’ve lived in Nashville since 2019 with my wife, Jenni and 8 year old son Dax. I work at Vanderbilt University coordinating construction projects.

How did you find DAD BOD and what made you decide to take the leap?

Jon: I found DAD BOD after Jenni started doing Stay Fit Mom. I made the decision to start eating healthier when the scale was consistently over 200 pounds for the first time in my life.

Counting Macros success story

Before moving to Nashville and the birth of our son, it was always easy to stay active. I’ve completed a variety of triathlons, cycling events and would run almost daily. At that point in my life I could eat/drink whatever I wanted and burn it all off at the gym or the lakefront path.

Tell us about sharing this experience with your wife. Many clients would love to have their husbands try this. Any advice for them?

Jon: Hands down, there’s no way I could do this without Jenni. She’s my biggest champion and keeps me accountable when I start digging into the junk food. We work together every week to plan recipes and spend Sundays meal prepping together for the week ahead. I highly recommend getting your partner involved if possible because teamwork really does make the dream work. Having someone beside you who understands the process, supports you, and shares the same goals makes such a huge difference.

Your transformation is inspiring! Tell us how much weight/inches you’ve lost.

Jon: I started DAD BOD weighing in at 210.2 and it has been a journey like everything else. Over the last two years, my bandwidth to stay on track has definitely varied depending on life and responsibilities. This year, though, I really bucked down and became more intentional with my habits.

Today I am down to 175.6 pounds, which puts me at a total loss of 34.6 pounds.

What diets/things have you tried before and how do they compare to the macro counting journey you’ve been on with DAD BOD?

Jon: Honestly, prior to DAD BOD I never really worried about diet because I was very active. It wasn’t until my activity levels dropped that I started to gain weight and realize the importance of nutrition. Again, I really feel that DAD BOD has been a lifestyle change or accountability rather than a diet.

How are you able to fit in Macro counting with your lifestyle? Have you had to make any major changes?

Jon: I wouldn’t say that cooking has always been a passion but I have always enjoyed it. The biggest adjustment has been weighing and logging everything. Once I got into the habit of tracking though it became a routine and not an inconvenience. I didn’t necessarily eat “unhealthy” in terms of types of food, it was more portion control that I needed to rein in. The other part was changing the mindset that I needed to finish everything. When Dax would finish eating and I would finish off what he left on his plate. Once I started tracking I realized how much those “little bites” here and there added up to significant macros.

How has learning to macro count shifted your thinking about “dieting”?

Jon: I don’t feel like macro counting is a diet. I look at it more of a lifestyle and way to hold myself accountable for what I am eating. Since starting macros I now think about how this impacts the rest of my food for the day. I often debate if it is worth eating something “bad” during the day or saving those macros for something better at dinner.

Besides shedding pounds and inches, what are some Non-Scale Victories that you’ve experienced?

Jon: I love our Sunday meal prep days. Gives us time as a family to try some new recipes and have fun in the kitchen. I also love how active we are as a family. We go for family hikes, runs, bike rides. We’re setting the example for Dax. Dax is now asking when our next 5k will be which is amazing! I didn’t find out that people run on purpose until track in high school. Hahahaha! Last year I started getting back into races and completed my first Spartan race and am already registered for this years in October.

What’s your most used, favorite SFM recipe?

Jon: I am a big fan of the Biscuit bake. We make it for Christmas morning every year and is a staple throughout the rest of the year. Another go to recipe is the Chili Mac for lunches.

Tell us about your experience working with Coach Chelsea specifically.

Jon: Coach Chelsea has been amazing. She is so supportive and makes me feel like she is vested in my success. She has been crucial with off days not turning fire engine red that lead to multiple days in a row. Chelsea had helped me see that the goal is consistency and it is really a journey towards balance of enjoying food but staying intentional.

When one person starts prioritizing their health, it often inspires the entire family to move, eat, and live differently together.
