If you’ve ever wondered what actually keeps a teenage boy full and happy in the morning — this is it. These Biscuit & Gravy Casseroles are hands-down my teenage son’s favorite meal prepped breakfast, and honestly, I get why. They’re warm, hearty, and feel like a classic comfort-food breakfast… but still fit into a macro-balanced plan.
This is one of those recipes that proves meal prep doesn’t have to feel boring or restrictive. When breakfast is already made and sitting in the fridge, it’s a whole lot easier to fuel busy mornings without resorting to grabbing something on the go.

Macros per Serving
Makes: 5 bowls
Serving Size: 1 bowl
Calories: 402
Macros: 27p / 31.3c / 17.8f (0.6 fiber)

Ingredients
- Breakfast turkey sausage
- Jumbo biscuits (I used Grands Southern Homestyle Biscuits – 3p | 27c | 7f each)
- Butter
- All-purpose flour
- Fat-free Fairlife milk
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- Liquid egg whites
- Large eggs
Substitutions & Swaps
- Sausage: Use pork breakfast sausage or chicken sausage if preferred (macros will change).
- Biscuits: Swap for smaller biscuits or homemade biscuit dough if desired.
- Milk: Any milk will work, but fat-free Fairlife keeps protein higher.
- Eggs: Use all whole eggs if you prefer a richer texture.

Easy Variations
- Cheesy Version: Add shredded cheddar or pepper jack to the egg mixture.
- Spicy Kick: Add crushed red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce to the gravy.
- Veggie Boost: Stir in sautéed bell peppers or spinach with the sausage.
- Higher-Calorie Option: Serve with fruit or add an extra biscuit per bowl.
Recipe Tip
Let the bowls cool slightly before covering — this prevents condensation and keeps the biscuits from getting soggy during storage.
Storage & Reheating
- Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4–5 days.
- Reheat in the microwave for 2–3 minutes, stirring halfway if needed.
- These bowls are best enjoyed fresh from the fridge rather than frozen due to the biscuits.

Biscuit & Gravy Breakfast Bowls (My Teen’s Favorite Meal Prep)
Equipment
Ingredients
- 16 oz breakfast turkey sausage
- 5 jumbo biscuits, I used Grands Southern Homestyle Biscuits – 3p | 27c | 7f each
- 1 ¼ tablespoons butter, 17.5g
- 2 ½ tablespoons all-purpose flour, 19g
- 1 ¼ cups fat-free Fairlife milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 ¼ cups liquid egg whites
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Arrange 5 oven-safe containers on a baking sheet and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Cut each biscuit into quarters. Place the pieces from one full biscuit into each container.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the turkey sausage until fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain excess grease, remove from the pan, and set aside.
- Using the same skillet (do not wipe it out), melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour — the mixture will be thick and clumpy at first.
- Slowly whisk in the milk, about 2 tablespoons at a time, until smooth. Continue cooking and whisking until the gravy thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cooked sausage.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg whites, whole eggs, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Evenly pour the egg mixture over the biscuits in each container. Spoon the sausage gravy evenly over the top.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the biscuits are golden brown.
- Let cool before covering and refrigerating. Reheat in the microwave for 2–3 minutes.

Can these be frozen and then thawed out later?
I don’t see why not. I freeze meals all the time. Just let the glass bowls defrost before reheating so they don’t crack.
Absolutly delicious. I’m not sure how they reheat because everyone decided they wanted some and more this morning. My only advice. Cut the salt in half atleast. The sausage is already salty on its own.
Hi Mandy! I should specify that I use Maldon salt in all my recipes. It’s mild, and more like a finishing salt. I struggle with how much salt to list in all my recipes because some say it’s too much and then the next person says it’s not enough. Haha. Thanks so much for the kind review regardless! Glad they were a hit in your home!
Any tips for a gluten free biscuit dough? Gf Bisquick or GF Kodiak mix?
Hi Shannon, I bet the GF Kodiak Cake mix would work great.
Can you use whole eggs only? I dont buy egg whites and I dont like egg whites only.
Yes of course you can use all whole eggs.
These bowls are phenomenal!!! Everyone from my 4 year old to my husband LOVED them! Definitely keeping these in the breakfast rotation! 🙂
I live them too. My teenage daughter enjoys them so much.

I made these today and the gravy seemed extremely salty…not sure where I went wrong.
Hi Kelly, I use a flake salt in all y recipes. If you use a finer table salt. you might find that it’s too much. But as always with any recipe, season to your liking and always start with less.
Do you have to used the eggs, I do not like eggs, unless they are boil.
Hi Carol, I think it’s fine to skip the eggs in this.
Its yummy!!!!!!!
