If your family is constantly reaching for snacks, these PB&J Protein Bites are about to become a new favorite. They have all the nostalgic flavors of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but in a grab-and-go snack packed with protein, fiber, and wholesome ingredients.

These bites are perfect for busy mornings, lunch boxes, after-school snacks, or a quick bite before heading to practice. I especially love making a batch during football season when my teenage boys seem to be hungry every hour of the day!

Why You’ll Love These Protein Bites

  • High in protein to help keep you full
  • Easy to make with simple pantry ingredients
  • Great for meal prep
  • Kid-approved
  • Perfect for school lunches, sports, or busy afternoons
  • No baking required

Ingredients

I typically use unsweetened almond milk, but any milk will work just fine. Since the recipe only uses a small amount, it won’t make a meaningful difference in the macros.

Tips for Success

  • Different protein powders absorb moisture differently. If your mixture feels too dry to roll, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time until it comes together.
  • Let the mixture rest for 5–10 minutes before rolling. The oats will absorb some of the moisture, making the mixture easier to work with.
  • If using natural peanut butter, stir it well before measuring.
  • Measure your oats carefully. Adding too many oats can make the mixture dry and crumbly.

Meal Prep Tip

I love portioning these into individual snack bags so they’re ready to grab on busy mornings. They’re perfect tucked into lunch boxes, eaten before practice, or enjoyed with a piece of fruit for an easy afternoon snack. During football season, my teenage son is gone from about 6:30 AM until after 7:00 PM, so having high-protein snacks like these ready to grab makes fueling him throughout the day so much easier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different protein powder?

Yes! Just know that different protein powders absorb moisture differently. You may need to add a little extra milk to get the right consistency.

Can I use a different nut butter?

Absolutely. Almond butter or cashew butter both work well, though the flavor will change slightly.

Can I freeze them?

Yes! Store them in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to 3 months. Let them thaw for a few minutes before enjoying.
