Looking for easy back-to-school dinner ideas? These high-protein family meals are comforting, kid-approved, meal-prep friendly, and helping our family settle into a new school routine while getting back on track after summer.

There are two things happening in our house this week.
First, my kids are all a bundle of nerves. New teachers, new classrooms, new schedules…it’s a lot. One of my favorite ways to love them during a week like this is by having dinner ready when they walk through the door. Familiar meals bring a little comfort on days that feel uncertain.
Second, I’m ready to get back into my routine. We had an incredible summer full of vacations, celebrations, and late-night ice cream runs. I gained about five pounds—and honestly, I’d make those memories all over again. But now I’m looking forward to meal prep, getting back in the gym, and filling my plate with foods that make me feel my best.
The good news? Those two goals don’t have to compete.
These are the exact meals I’m making this week. They’re comforting enough that my kids get excited to eat them, but they’re also high in protein, macro-friendly, and easy to prep ahead so I can feel good too.
Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes
This is one of our most requested recipes and my favorite thing about it is you can make on the stove top in about 20 minutes!

Hot Honey Chicken &
This is your typical meal prep recipe, but leveled up with an amazing flavor profile!

Classic Mac & Cheese
I put these two (Hot Honey + Classic Mac & Cheese) together in a meal prep bowl and pair it with a vegetable.

No Bean Turkey Chili
Nothing says welcome home from school on your first day, like a bowl of chili with all the fixings. This recipe is great because it’s made with ground turkey and packed with veggies!

High Protein Chicken Burritos
These are a HIT in our house and never last long, but they are very freezer friendly and make for a great grab and go option for lunches if there are any leftover.

French Dip Sandwiches
We’ve got a lot of pot roasts in our freezer from our latest steer and this is one of our favorite ways to use it! My kids love anything with a bun or hoagie roll! Plus you can make it in the crockpot or instant pot which is a HUGE win.
