Can I have cereal? Mooooooom, I want Mac ‘n’ Cheese! Chicken Nuggets! Waffles! Ice cream! Candy!! Candy!! Where’s the dessert?
These are just a few of the demands that I hear pretty consistently from my boys at my house. You’d think this Stay Fit Mom would have her kiddos diets under control, but the truth is I struggle just as much as the next mom. Raising healthy kids is not the easiest task. I want my kids to grow up loving real food and I want to give them the best shot at a healthy lifestyle, but enforcing healthy choices can be tricky! When my kids behave badly, they have to suffer immediate consequences, but the consequences of making bad food choices are not always immediate. To the contrary, the most unhealthy foods taste delicious, and my kids are all about immediate gratification. I am their parent, so I’m deciding what they get to eat on a daily basis, but I want my kids to be thinking about healthy choices on their own for their bodies, so that they are successful long term.
Demanding, nagging, pleading, or even bribing my kids to eat spinach just doesn’t work for our family. I wanted a TOOL that would minimize dinner table meltdowns and encourage my wild boys to make their own healthy choices in their day to day lives.
What better way to turn the strong-willed child from dinner rebellion than a “Healthy Kid, Healthy Choices” free printable? My kids thought this was such a fun “game.”
Turning healthy choices into a “game” allowed my kiddos to participate in the learning process and gave their food choices ownership! I grew up thinking Cinnamon Toast Crunch for breakfast every morning was a hardy breakfast. I want my kids, even at the young ages of 2 and 4 to grow up knowing what foods fuel their bodies. We frequently talk about growing BIG and STRONG in our home. My boys model every thing we do at this point in their lives, so we are taking advantage of it in the kitchen!

I really can’t say enough about the love I’ve developed for CrossFit over the past 3 years. If you would have told me 5 years ago, that I’d be in the best shape of my life AFTER two kids, I would’ve laughed in your face. CrossFit has given me more confidence, increased my knowledge for health and fitness, and allowed me to be part of a community that I wouldn’t trade for the world. My kiddos copy EVERYTHING I do, and CrossFit is no exception. CrossFit Apollo and CrossFit Social City both offer CrossFit for the whole family!
The skills that children develop in CrossFit Kids can transfer into so many different aspects of their life. Team building, listening skills, and body control are just some of the few things that CrossFit Kids programs help to develop in children. As a parent, I want my child to grow healthy, strong, and to develop an appreciation for health and fitness. CrossFit Kids does just that!! If you’re wondering what CrossFit Kids looks like, head on over to CrossFit Social City’s Facebook page. They’ve got some AMAZING videos featuring their little cuties in action!!
