If you’re craving a quick and satisfying lunch, you can’t go wrong with classic Ham & Cheese Baguettes. This recipe is one of my go-tos—simple to make, packed with flavor, and perfect for sharing (or not!). I start with a fresh Kirkland baguette loaf , which has the perfect balance of crusty outside and soft inside. With just a few tasty ingredients—Dijon mustard, butter, sliced ham, creamy brie, and peppery arugula—you’ve got yourself a sandwich that feels both comforting and a little fancy. It comes together in just a few minutes, and the combo of creamy brie and savory ham with the bite of arugula is so satisfying. Whether you’re packing it for a picnic, slicing it up for a quick lunch, or enjoying it warm out of the oven, this baguette is always a hit.

INGREDIENTS

  • Baguette loaf (I use 1 Kirkland loaf)
  • Butter
  • Dijon mustard
  • Thinly sliced ham
  • Brie
  • Arugula

Recipe Tip

Baguette bread needs to be used right away, when it’s fresh–within 1-2 days. If you have stale baguette bread don’t panic, there is a trick to soften it back up I’ve successfully used myself.

Place it right on your oven rack and bake it 6-10 minutes (depending on the size of your loaf) at 300 degrees.

Stick the bread under running water. Yes, the whole loaf right under your kitchen sink faucet and give it a good drench real quick.

Tips & Tricks

  • Lightly toast the baguette for extra texture
  • Let brie sit at room temp for 10 mins – spreads easier and melts better
  • Don’t skip the Dijon – it balances the fat from the brie and ham
  • Serve warm or cold – delicious either way
  • Slice into smaller pieces for party platters or brunch boards

MEAL PREP SUPPLIES USED

Half size sheet pan – These baguettes fit great on this size of pan!

Short-Term Storage (Same Day or Next Day)

  • Wrap any extra ham & cheese baguettes tightly in parchment paper or foil. This keeps the baguette from drying out while preserving some of the crust’s texture.
  • Store in the fridge if you’re not eating it within a couple of hours, especially because of the ham and brie.
  • Optional: Add arugula just before serving if you want to avoid it wilting.

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette loaf, 410g(I use 1 Kirkland loaf)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, 14g
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 16 ounces thinly sliced ham
  • 2.5 ounces brie
  • 2 handfuls of arugula

Instructions

  • Slice the baguette loaf down the center and place on a sheet pan. I sliced my bread in half before slicing down the center to fit in on a half sheet pan.
  • Melt the butter in a small bowl and spread evenly on all the bread. I used a basting brush. Do the same with the Dijon mustard.
  • Evenly distribute the ham down one side of the sandwich bread.
  • Slice the brie and place evenly on the other side of the bread. I spread my cheese with my fingers a bit to help evenly distribute it.
  • Broil on high 3-4 minutes, or bake at 400 degrees 5-7 minutes until the bread is toasted on the edges and cheese is melted.
  • Top with arugula, fold and slice into 4 sandwiches. Enjoy!

  1. What is a Kirkland baguette? Is it bought at Costco and is it frozen? Also, what kind of ham did you use? There are so many. Are so many varieties to choose from. Thank you. These remind me of the sandwiches my husband and I had in Paris.
