Don’t Weigh Yourself
It’s not a crime to gain weight on vacation, let yourself live! You can get right back to your goals when you get home. We do suggest avoiding the scale for a good 3-5 days post vacation if seeing a higher number bothers you. Remember, you didn’t actually gain 5 pounds of fat in just 1 week. Rest assured, you’ll lose a few of those pounds quickly if you get back into your routine.
Set Small Goals
Shoot to crush the next 3 days ahead. That should be your sole focus and it’s a HUGE momentum builder. If you hit your macros for a solid 3 days, chances are you’re going to feel yourself again and be motivated to continue.
Drink Your Water
You should always shoot for a minimum of half your body weight in ounces each day. Odds are you slacked on vacation and your body is holding on to extra fluids. Not to mention hunger is often mistaken for thirst. Drink up post vacation and reap the benefits!
Get Rid of Temptations
If you’re anything like me you splurge on vacation and usually end up coming home with extra snacks. If you’re afraid these extra goodies lying around might tempt you to fall off track, trash them! Problem solved.
Plan Your Meals
Plan a full week of meals and recipes you love so you have something to look forward to each day. We have a lot of great macro friendly recipes right here on our site. No one wants to attempt to get back on track eating plain chicken breast and broccoli. Get creative!
Grocery Shop
Most likely when you return home from vacation your pantry and fridge are looking a little slim. Restock your fridge and pantry with your favorite, macro friendly foods. Here’s a refresher of the basics you might want to keep on hand.
Move Your Body
Exercising has a lot of benefits including keeping you motivated to follow through with your nutrition! Don’t have an exercise routine? Something is better than nothing, try some of our free weekly workouts to get started!
Be Patient
Progress doesn’t happen overnight. If you’ve done our program before you know what kind of results will come when you consistently hit your macros. Be kind and patient with yourself. It’s hard to put a timeline on how long it will take to feel like you did pre vacation, but we like to say that for everyday you splurged, it will take about 3 days to make up for it. Again, this is just an estimate, but a good reminder that it can take several weeks to get back to where you were pre vacation. Don’t let your small break from macros discourage you.
