Every once in a while, a story comes along that reminds you this journey is about so much more than the number on the scale—and Jen’s story is exactly that. As a busy mom of four, Jen has walked through seasons of hardship, growth, and transformation, both physically and mentally. After years of trying every diet imaginable, she finally found a sustainable approach through macro counting that not only helped her lose over 50 pounds, but completely changed her relationship with food, fitness, and herself. Her journey is a powerful reminder that real change is possible—and it’s never too late to start.

Tell us a little bit about your story. Work? family?

Jen: I’m a mom of 4 (18,11,9,7), happily married for 12.5 years, and best of all, a Child of God! I was a teen mom, so my body changed pretty early on. I’ve gone through ups and downs throughout my life with my parents being divorced, both parents parenting differently, messy choices as a teen, getting pregnant, & an abusive relationship. But God met me where I was and brought me to Himself. I then married my now Husband, and he’s been a role model father for my Son even though biologically he’s not, and a great girl Dad to our girls! We’re Latinos from Chicago (me / Him ) and moved to northwest Indiana 5 years ago. I’m mostly a SAHM and I also pick up shifts as a Substitute Teacher. I just love having a great time with my friends and family from church. I enjoy 90s music especially salsa & reggaeton & I love to dance!

How did you find Stay Fit Mom and what made you decide to take the leap?

Jen: My brother in law has been tracking his macros for about a decade now and I’ve always been curious. Coach Chelsea is a close friend of mine from church and was educating me on the importance of protein and talking to me about sustainability over “dieting”. And learning to eat more balanced and control and again.. prioritizing protein!!

Your transformation is inspiring! Tell us how much weight/inches you’ve lost.

Jen: I’ve lost 50 lbs since July 10, 2025!! 202 to 152 currently. I’ve lost about 23.5 inches throughout my body. 10.5 inches of that in my waist, and about 5 to 6inches in the bust area. I also went down a cup size (my true size lol). I went from a size 14 and now I wear mostly a 6. Sometimes an 8, if the jeans don’t have any stretch- haha! From a L/XL to a size S or M.

What diets/things have you tried before and how does it compare to the macro counting journey you’ve been on with Stay Fit Mom?

Jen: What haven’t I tried!? The egg diet, cabbage diet, Atkins, strictly calorie counting, Carnivore diet, 3 day juice cleanse, or sometimes just eating 900 cal and under and working out like crazy. Of course they “all worked.” It made me lose “weight”. But it made me cut out food groups, I was starving, not gaining muscle, losing muscle, and never ever helped understand how to eat and fuel. And most of all, it WASN’T SUSTAINABLE! Tracking my macros allows me to properly fuel my body and support muscle growth and actually burn fat, not just “weight.” It allows me to eat what I want, and it teaches me where I have to make substitutions. And you know what, if I do eat a little out of whack a day or two, I hop right back on and continue.

How are you able to fit in Macro counting with your lifestyle? Have you had to make any major changes?

Jen: I pretty much eat the same types of food, just a lot more leaner. And the major changes I did make is more about not over eating. I was eating $3 bags of chips every night! Half a liter of soda or more. Eating out multiple times a week because I had the coupons or rewards for it!

But as far as the types of food I make at home, counting macros allows me to eat those and still carry out my goals. Sometimes that means choosing a reduced fat option, or a low carb option, or a leaner meat, nothing too major.

How has learning to macro count shifted your thinking about “dieting?”

Jen: Oh trust me, in the beginning when I was committed to counting macros a few years ago, I tried going back to my dieting ways, and failed miserably- haha! I was like, “I can’t diet like this anymore because I’m hungry!!” Before I was able to do it, but counting macros got me used to eating a good amount of food, burning fat, and my body just couldn’t go back to “diets.”

Besides shedding pounds and inches, what are some Non-Scale Victories that you’ve experienced?

Jen: Besides those things, the best thing that happened to me was the mental shift! I was someone that suffered with food noise! Bad too! As soon as I woke up in the morning! And something just shifted. I credit that to God sustaining me and pushing through because honestly something just shifted. Having stamina is a victory. Falling in love with the gym! It’s my favorite things to do.

Another victory are little muscles I now have in my arms and shoulders that I never could see! Donating my “bigger clothes”. However now I need a whole wardrobe! Haha!

My kids being so proud of me! I have so many victories!

What’s your most used, favorite SFM recipe?

Jen: Dump Lasagna and Buffalo Mac n Cheese

What Coach Chelsea has to say about working with Jen:

It has been such a privledge to be Jennifer’s coach. When we first started working together she hit the ground running, but then fell off for a bit. I chose to give her space and let her work through some of typical dieting struggles she had. Basically not eating for days on end then throwing in the towel and eating all the things. Since she has recommitted to implementing this lifestyle long term she has seen some incredible progress along the way. It makes it fun to have the opportunity to do actual life with her and see her flourish. Her demeanor has changed in many areas all because she feels better overall. She may share this as well, but she still has some of the typical dieting noise that tries to creep in, but with strength from the Lord she is able to quiet it and reflect on where she started which keeps her moving forward. I am blessed not just from being her coach, but also her sister in Christ. I am so grateful God has brought her into my life and for the opportunity to help her on this journey. She is awesome and I hope others are blessed and encouraged by her story!

If you’re ready to jump into our 1:1 coaching program, we’d love to work with you!
