Meet Kristin! She started counting macros with Stay Fit Mom alongside her mom. She has not only lost an incredible amount of inches, but she’s also eliminated her iron deficiency and lowered her cholesterol! Kristin has seemed to find the perfect balance of living her fullest life while working toward her goals!

Tell us a little bit about your story. Work? family? What’s a typical day in your life look like?

Kristin:  I have been married to my husband, Dave, for 15 years and we have a beautiful daughter, Elyanna who is 11.  We live in the Memphis, TN area and enjoy camping & traveling.  I went back to work about a year ago doing medical coding from home, which doesn’t allow for a lot of movement during work hours typically.  However, I have made getting my steps in a priority during the work day. Initially it was by using my lunch to go on a 30 minute walk, but recently invested in a walking pad that I use daily until I get a minimum of 10k steps

How did you find Stay Fit Mom and what made you decide to take the leap?

Kristin: I initally found SFM through a friend who recommended I follow Krista on Instagram when I was following the Faster Way to Fat Loss program.  I have tried every diet there is basically and never been successful at sticking to anything long term. I followed Krista loosely for about 3 years when my Mom was talking about wanting to count macros and I told her about SFM.  Mom was the one who signed up first and convinced me to do the same.  It was a lot of money, but I knew I had to do something. I had hit the heaviest I had ever been and was just unhappy. I didn’t want pictures taken of me and didn’t even like looking in the mirror. I had little hope that it would work, but was willing to give it a try.  After my first 6 weeks seeing the huge amount of inches lost I was hooked! Since starting my best friend and a cousin have joined after seeing my success!

Besides shedding pounds and inches, you’ve had some great health victories while macro counting. Can you share those with us as well as any other Non-scale victories you’ve had?

Kristin: The best health victory I have had is the significant improvement in my bloodwork.  I have regularly donated platelets for many years, but have to take iron supplement to make sure my iron count is high enough when I do.  Despite being able to donate weekly if I wanted to I was having to wait 8-10 weeks between appointments because of my iron.  Since starting SFM I no longer have to take OTC iron and lately I am able to donate every 6 weeks!  Also, I had routine bloodwork done back in October 2023 (about 6 months after SFM) and my cholesterol levels were high and my PCM requested repeat bloodwork at 6 months.  When I went back my cholesterol had all gone into the normal range across the board!  Other NSV is the amount of energy I have and the consistent nights rest most of the time that I get.

What’s your most used, favorite SFM recipe?

Kristin: There are so many great recipes it is hard to pick, but I am going to go with the ones that my family enjoys too!  The chicken parmesan meatballs we do often, Krista’s potato salad is the BEST I have ever had.  My husband really likes the french dip sandwiches.  I also use the 2 ingredient pizza dough a lot to make calzones and pizza for lunches since I work from home.  Regardless, I try and use at least 1 of the recipes every day as it usually helps with me hitting my numbers a little easier.

Coach Kristi raves about your consistency. What’s your best tip for others that are trying to improve their consistency?

Kristin: Staying consistent has taken a lot of hard work and determination.  Initially I had to really log everything the night before to ensure I was hitting my numbers.  Now, most of the time I log in the morning and typically log my dinners first as I cook around what my family will eat.  On occasion I still track the night before if I know the next day is going to be hectic.  To me the #1 thing to keep consistent is to PLAN, PLAN, PLAN!  But, also give yourself grace when you have an off day – just be sure to get back to it the next one.  One bad day won’t kill your progress!

Tell us about your experience working with Coach Kristi specifically.

Kristin: Coach Kristi has been so patient and wonderful during my time with SFM.  I have had many a fit over the scale and she always reminds me that it is a tool and provides the right words, article or encouragement when I need it.  She has been wonderful in keeping me grounded when I start to have doubts or frustrations and is there cheering me on during all victories big and small.

My biggest words of advice are to always remember it is about the journey and making lifelong changes to ensure lifelong success. I sometimes think about how “little” I have lost in the past year weight-wise and get discouraged, but then when I take my weekly photos I am amazed to see all the small little changes that are happening.  I am not yet at the point of being able to fit in time at the gym doing weights like I would LOVE to get back to, but I know someday that time will come again for me.  For now, I am the tortoise and have learned so many things about myself and my abilities!

What Coach Kristi has to say about working with Kristin:

Kristin has been such a joy to work with!  She has been tremendously consistent and has completely embraced the idea of building a foundation of sustainable nutrition in her life.  Kristin is always excited to have new tools and resources and takes ownership of how her schedule, planning and choices affect her week. She celebrates NSVs so well and is committed to her nutrition for her long term health. One of my favorite things about Kristin’s journey is how well she has navigated vacations and when things don’t go as planned.  She does an incredible job staying mindful and always gets right back to hitting her macros as soon as she returns. The balance she has found in living her fullest life while working toward her goals is inspiring!
