When Brittney started her journey with Stay Fit Mom, she was feeling defeated, frustrated, and ready for real change. After struggling to lose weight post-pregnancy and facing setbacks even after seeking medical help, she decided to give 1:1 coaching a chance—and it turned out to be one of the best decisions she’s ever made. Through consistency, mindset shifts, and a lot of perseverance, Brittney has not only shed 35 pounds, but she’s also healed her relationship with food and built a lifestyle that supports her busy life as a mom of three. Today, we’re honored to share her story and celebrate the incredible progress she’s made.
Tell us a little bit about your story. Work? family? What’s a typical day in your life look like?
Brittney: My name is Brittney. I am a stay at home mom to two 4 year old boy/girl twins and a 2 year old boy. I grew up in Utah, but haven’t lived there since I got married in 2014. I still visit often as I have family that still live there, but school and work have kept us in Georgia, Arizona, and now Colorado. We’ve been here in Colorado since 2020 and don’t have plans to leave. My typical day consists of going to the gym and getting my kiddos out of the house in the mornings whether it’s parks, libraries, gymnastics, or whatever activity we have planned that day. My older 2 have preschool in the afternoons and my youngest still naps. We usually have another outing after pickup and then it’s home, dinner, and bedtime. We try to get out and explore more of Colorado on the weekends. We live in what is perceived to be a mountainous area, however, joke that we really live in Kansas because the closest mountains are a 40 minute drive. Hobbies of mine include cooking, hiking, strength training, crocheting, and scrapbooking.

How did you find Stay Fit Mom and what made you decide to take the leap?
Brittney: After my first pregnancy, I was able to lose all of my baby weight and get down to a reasonable weight a year postpartum by macro counting. After my second pregnancy, losing the weight was a lot more difficult. I was to the point where I felt like it was hormones that were preventing me from losing the weight. I went to a clinic to get them tested and the results came back normal. I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and the clinic convinced me to try Semaglutide as an attempt to regulate my blood sugar. I started on the Semaglutide and after 5 months I didn’t lose any weight, in fact, I think I gained weight. My hormones were fine, the drugs weren’t working, plus I wanted a more sustainable way to keep the weight off. After a particularly disappointing doctor’s visit in August where my physician told me to eat more vegetables and workout more (as if I wasn’t already doing these things), I was at my wits end! I actually started out with Clean Simple Eats a couple of year’s ago, which is another macro counting company that I am sure many of you have heard of. I don’t know if everyone feels this way, but once I started counting my macros I was constantly searching for influencers who had recipes so that I could have variety in the meals that I was eating. I found Stay Fit Mom this way and even purchased one of the cookbooks. I knew that they offered 1:1 coaching, but I felt like as long as I had my macros calculated that I could easily get away with tracking on my own. After the very discouraging doctor’s visit in August of last year and the Semaglutide failure, I decided to give 1:1 coaching with Stay Fit Mom a chance. Best decision I have ever made!

You’re down 35 pounds since starting with Emily in September. How have you been able to do it? What habits do you have in place that makes this process easier for you? What lifestyle changes have you made that have enabled you to lose this much weight?
Brittney: Honestly, it’s just consistency and trusting the process. Logging my food the day before has been very helpful. I absolutely love myfitnesspal and instead of it being a burden, it has been so freeing to be able to feel good about how I am fueling my body. It has also helped me become aware of how much I was overeating. Meal prep has been a huge game changer. That and I have fallen in love with my instant pot and ninja creami. Having quick and easy meals that I can grab from the fridge as well as meals that I am excited to eat help me to stay on track. I still enjoy eating out, but it is not as much of a temptation when I know I have good food at home. Changing my “diet” mentality has been helpful. The 1:1 coaching has been very therapeutic in helping me analyze my relationship with food and thinking of this as more of a long-term change rather than a quick fix.

You’ve mentioned how this process has changed your relationship with food. Can you tell us how? How has learning to macro count shifted your thinking from your past experiences?
Brittney: Working with Coach Emily has been great because it has allowed me to reflect on my relationship with food and try to “heal” some of the negative thinking that I grew up with. I love my parents, but have realized that I have a really hard time staying on track when they are around. There is a lot of restriction and then binging on sweets and treats. They gravitate towards keto because it allows for quicker weight loss. I have recognized the “all or nothing” mentality in myself. This has been extremely hard to break. When I am not able to reach my macros for the day instead of trying to stay as close as possible, I make really negative choices that result in excessive calorie overload. I still have a lot of work to do, but 1:1 coaching has allowed me to work through and change some of those mentalities. You don’t know how to change until you know what you need to change.

Besides shedding pounds and inches, what are some Non-Scale Victories that you’ve experienced?
Brittney: Strength, endurance, and confidence. The biggest why for my weight loss has been to be able to keep up with my kids. There are so many things that I want to be able to experience with my kids i.e. hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. I never want my weight to prevent me from being able to do these things with them.
What’s your most used, favorite SFM recipe?
Brittney: There are too many! If I had to choose one, I would say the Breakfast Wonton Cups. I have 2 or 3 for breakfast everyday depending on my macros.
Tell us about your experience working with Coach Emily specifically.
Brittney: Emily has been a dream to work with! She is always so positive in her responses and gives amazing insight to my musings. Her words of encouragement have helped me to stay on track during some less than ideal circumstances these last few months and her calculations have been on point to help with my weight loss journey. I was in such a dark place when I started the 1:1 coaching. Discouraged, depressed, angry, frustrated, confused. I told myself I would give it one month with 1:1 coaching and ended up staying for 8 months! A big part of that was the accountability and the support that I received in my journey. I haven’t reached my goal yet, but I am confident that stay fit mom has helped me establish habits and given me the tools necessary to get there.
