There’s no way you can screw this up. You didn’t miss your opportunity because you’ve had a bad day, bad week, bad month, bad year. So long as you get back on the horse, you won’t ever ruin your chances at a healthy life. Today’s client spotlight is a testament to that persistence and steadiness. No quick fixes. No race to the tiniest version of herself. Just steady work for the long haul. Let’s dive in to Jessica’s story!
Tell us a little bit about your story. Work? Family? What’s a typical day in your life look like?
Jessica: I have been married to my best friend for almost 21 years. My husband and I met at church years ago and have been pretty inseparable since. My husband and I have three amazing teenagers, ages 17, 16, and 13. We are a pretty close family and enjoy hanging out and making memories together. I have been an elementary teacher the past six years and am about to start a “new to me” roll still working in the school district but stepping away from teaching students. During the school year life is really busy for our family. Both my husband and I work full time outside of the home and our kids enjoy lots of activities such as FFA, Track and Field, Cross Country, Youth Group, and more.
A typical day, during the school year, looks like waking up at 4:45am to get in an hour of exercise before the busyness of my day begins. I am on my way to work before 7:00am and I get home about 4:30. I usually start dinner right away; however, my kids are great with helping with meals and often will make our family dinner. After dinner, we divide and conquer whatever needs to be done for the kids or we try to play a game together if we have a slow evening. I like to head to bed earlier than most to wake up and do it all again the next day.

How did you find Stay Fit Mom and what made you decide to take the leap?
Jessica: I found Krista’s account on Instagram as I was scrolling a couple years ago. I liked her recipe Reels and followed her for those, not knowing there was such a thing as counting macros. The meals looked easy and I have been a meal planner and meal prepper for YEARS, so the recipes were very appealing to me. After a few months, I realized she kept talking about macros and had a business partner, so I started following Tracy’s account on IG, too. The more I watched and learned about macros, the more I was intrigued.
I had spent years doing Whole30’s and eating paleo, I was pretty consistent with these plans but always needed to reset and do another Whole30 every 6 months. I was realizing they weren’t very sustainable for me the longer I did them. We moved across the country 3 years ago and adjusting to all the things and supporting my kids through our move put my health on the back burner. I did not feel good, I did not think I looked good, I had low energy and did not want to buy any more new clothes. So, on Black Friday 2023 I told my husband I want something for Christmas that was going to truly help me feel and be better, I want to do the 6-week macro coaching (and it was on sale). He wasn’t very excited about this being my Christmas gift – nothing to unwrap, nothing that was bright and shiny under the tree – but he went along with it and got me what I wanted. I am so glad he did because I’ve stuck with macro counting and macro coaching for over 6 months and am loving the results.

Besides shedding pounds and inches, what are some non-scale victories you’ve experienced?
Jessica: I have gained so much confidence in myself. Let me say I am not back to the thinnest I have been or the fittest I have been in the past 10 years, but I am making progress toward getting there. That progress is giving me confidence to wear the swimsuit this summer and wear the shorts this summer. I have to wear a belt with my pants to keep them up now and I like to tuck in my shirts (who would’ve thought?!) I don’t feel like I have to hide behind baggy clothes and baggy shirts anymore. Overall, I have more energy. I also have peace of mind knowing my nutrition is on track, so if my body doesn’t feel quite right, I can identify that a bit more easily since I know it’s not what I ate.
What’s your most used favorite SFM recipe?
Jessica: It used to be one pot chili mac and cheese before I started coaching and counting. Now, I think my favorite recipe is oven baked orange chicken, or honey lime enchilada bowls, or biscuits and gravy casserole… It is so hard to say just one recipe, especially with Monthly Macro Meals and the variety of recipes that I get every month. Our family eats dinner together almost every night and we never get bored with our meals and everyone is happy with what is on their plates.
Coach Cassie raves about your consistency and raves about what a joy it is to coach you every week. What’s your best tip for others who are trying to get the most out of macro counting?
Jessica: The best tips that have helped me are:
- It gets easier, and it does! It used to take me 45 minutes the first two weeks to count and balance my macros and now I can get them counted and balanced in 3-5 minutes, so worth it.
- Slow progress is still progress. I have really enjoyed seeing the slow progress from week to week because I know that means the result will last and I’m in this for the long haul. Honestly, I think Tracy’s post a while back showing her year long progress after having one of her babies really put my own transformation into perspective. I realized that it’s okay to not have super fast results because eventually I will get to where I want to be as long as keep with it.
Tell us your experience working with Coach Cassie specifically.
Jessica: Coach Cassie is AMAZING. She always sees the positive side and finds so many WINS in my check in each week. She is so encouraging and realistic. She helps me adjust each week knowing my schedule changes dramatically from school time to summer and back to school time again. She encourages me to take the time to make the memories and not just stress about the numbers. She is fantastic and one of my biggest cheerleaders when it comes to my goals and progress.
