“Consistency over perfection”. We hear it all the time. But you have to balance it with not too much grace or you’ll be spinning your wheels.

Where Intention Changes the Game
This is where partnering intention WITH consistency makes all the difference in progress.
What Intention Looks Like in Real Life:
- Measuring the peanut butter instead of eyeballing it, even when you’ve been tracking macros for years
- Setting out your workout clothes the night before so you don’t skip your workout in the morning
- Getting to the grocery store for basics that support your nutrition
- Keeping easy to grab snacks and meal basics in the fridge- the basics work!
- Opting for a walk around the block after dinner or during the kids’ sports practice instead of scrolling social media
- Getting 30g of protein with your breakfast before the day gets too busy
- Brushing your teeth after dinner once you’ve wrapped up your food for the day
- Stretching during commercial breaks to get some needed mobility in (I know you’re tired, mama!)
- Taking the kids outside to the park on the way home from school

Why 1% Better Is Enough
These are LITTLE things that do SO MUCH for our overall progress! When I was running today, the coach was saying with each interval, try to do 1% better than the last one. Just 1%! 1% is such a small amount of effort, but also very attainable and moves the needle on progress.
1% Better Macro & Nutrition Habits
- Logging your food before you eat it instead of after.
- Choosing the higher-protein option when two choices are available.
- Adding one extra serving of vegetables to your day.
- Planning tomorrow’s breakfast before you go to bed.
- Packing lunch before you need it.
- Logging the “off-plan” meal instead of skipping the log entirely.
- Keeping one repeat “default” breakfast or lunch.
- Cooking double protein once so leftovers are ready.
- Making one slow cooker or Instant Pot meal each week.
- Starting a workout even if you only have 10 minutes.
- Parking farther away for extra steps.
- Taking a walk during kids’ practices instead of sitting.

Default Habits Matter More Than Motivation
It’s about those default rhythms and habits in the long run.
We love to throw grace around and grace is a good thing!!! But the saying about having your cake and eating it too is a saying for a reason. If we are always letting ourselves off the nutrition or workout hook because of circumstances/events/timing etc, then we aren’t being consistent. Well, we are being consistent– just at playing hooky!
Anything Worth Having Requires Intention
If we want a clean house- we have to work at it.
If we want to hit personal records in the gym- we have to work at it.
If we want to maintain a healthy weight- we have to work at it.
If we want to reduce prescription meds and have better health markers- we have to work at it.
Do you see a theme?
Make Intention Your Best Friend This Week
Make intention the best friend of consistency this week and start to feel the difference!! Progress doesn’t come from doing everything perfectly—it comes from doing the small things on purpose.
