Good friends are hard to come by.  Tracy is one of those good friends, she’s actually the best of friends.  I’ve know Tracy since we were freshman in high school.  I had a few good friends in high school but for whatever reason Tracy and I have always stayed in touch.   I think we were destined to be good friends.  We have a no nonsense friendship and I can’t imagine life without her.  All of our children are close in age so when she told me she was expecting baby number three just five months after me I was ecstatic!  She may be feeling less than motivated to to spruce up her nursery for another baby boy so I will do it for her!  I’m going to share with you this special new baby gift basket I have put together for my special friend and fellow Stay Fit Mom blogging partner, Tracy.

Super cute idea for a baby shower gift! #SnugHugs #adTracy hasn’t seen any of these items yet so SURPRISE! I’ll drop it off sometime this week when we scope out our new house again.  That’s right…we are getting a new home and it’s about 5 minutes away from Tracy’s house!  Is this not the best news ever!?  I’ve been packing like a mad woman all day and can’t stop thinking about how great it’s going to be to see my bestie more often.  We already have plans to go swimming together all summer long.  When Tracy moved all the way across town a few years ago I didn’t think I would ever be living  within a few miles of her.  It’s been a stressful few weeks for me for many reasons but God is good and I know everything happens for a reason.  I know this move is going to be an adjustment but we are so excited!!

I wanted to make Tracy a really special new baby gift basket filled with special handmade items because I think they are the most meaningful.   If you were to ask me the best baby gifts I’ve received throughout the years I would tell you the baby tie quilts my mom made me for each child, the cute bibs and hand stitched crib quilt my sister made me, and the cute diaper motorcycle my cousin made me when I had my firstborn back in 2010.  Yes, I received other great gifts, but the ones handmade and sewn are the ones that leave the biggest impression and are most significant to me.

Here’s a look at all the handmade items I’ve included in her new baby gift basket:

The first thing I did was find a cute basket that you would be able to see all the items in.  This basket will look great in her nursery holding diapers, blankets, shoes, or any other baby items.  I then went to Sam’s Club and got a value box of Huggies Snug & Dry diapers in size 3 so I could make the motorcycle.  Tracy prefers Huggies Snug & Dry diapers for her boys because they have the sturdiest straps and never leak because of their 12 hours+ of protection.  What’s great about having your third baby is you already know certain things you want, and what brand diapers is one of those things.  Sam’s Club is a great place to get your diapers because you can save over $10 with your membership and I love a good deal.  Speaking of deals, starting 3/9 you can save $7 off Huggies Snug & Dry diapers at Sam’s Club with the Ibotta offer!

If you don’t have a Sam’s Club membership I definitely recommend looking into it!  Tracy and I love Sam’s Club for many reasons but our favorites include their great value of baby products,  great selection of produce, their big selection of healthy food items, and of course their great prices. Look into getting a membership here.

So the first thing you want to do is fill the bottom of your basket with diapers.  I stuffed them in pretty tight and did two rows so all my other items would sit nicely on top near the top of the basket.

I then placed my blankets and burp cloths on top of the diapers.  How adorable is this little Oliver blanket!?

Next I snapped on one of the bibs(the other bib was used as a fender on the motorcycle) and the two pacifier clips to the front of the basket. Everything else I pretty much threw on top: booties, dinosaur, pacifiers, and taggie toy. What a great ideas for a shower giftNext time you need to get a gift for someone special consider making a few items yourself.  If you’re not a sewer, the diaper motor cycle is really easy!  I watched this youtube video here as a guide.

Just saw your site for the first time. Love the gift. I’m a 75 year old Mom of four, grandmother of thirteen + spouses, and great grandmother of five. We’re expecting twin great granddaughters in June and another new baby in November. Did you use a purchased pattern for the taggie crinkle toy, pacifier clip, burp cloth, and bib or are they your designs? Thank you

      Hi Faye!
I wish they were my designs to share but they are not. The bib and pacifier clip are purchased patterns but the crinkle toy and burp cloths I found on Pinterest. They were super simple and I’ve seen many different free patterns on Pinterest. I used a clear plastic bag for the inside of the crinkle toy. Hope this helps! Congrats on the new grand babies!
