I love cooking with my cast iron skillet. They’re one of the safest pots and pans to use. You can’t throw cast iron pots or pans in the dish washer, but they’re really quite easy to maintain. I really want a larger one. We use our 12″ one multiple times a week.
I hope you love this recipe as much as I do. Tag me on Instagram if you make it! I absolutely love seeing you guys making my recipes and sharing, it means a lot.

- 1 pound 99% lean ground turkey
- 1 pound mild Italian sausage
- 2 cups wild rice, dry(360g) or 929g cooked wild rice

- 2 celery stalks, diced (100g)
- 1 green bell pepper, diced (200g)
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons thyme
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour (or GF Measure for Measure Flour)
- 2 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Cook your rice according to package directions.
- In a large pan, over medium high heat, cook your turkey and sausage until no longer pink. Drain any fat.
- Add the veggies and garlic and cook until the veggies become translucent.
- Add the flour and spices and mix well.
- Pour in the broth, mix, and reduce heat to low once it begins to simmer. Let it simmer on low for 15 minutes.
- Add the rice, mix well, and let in sit on low for an additional 10-15 minutes before serving.
- This makes for great leftovers. The next day, after all the flavors have been sitting overnight it’s even better!
